Adam Dudley graduated from Heriot Watt University in 1980, and started his career practising community architecture with Wester Hailes Community Enterprise in Edinburgh. After a year or so, in order to gain his Professional Chartership, Adam joined John C Hope Architects, before establishing his own practice in 1986. He remained working on community based projects in Wester Hailes for several years afterwards, many of which failed to materialise due to lack of funding. He has maintained a small practice, and continues to work on community based projects. Adam has lectured at the University of Edinburgh and has been an external marker to their MArch students for the last 14 years, but remains very much a practitioner rather than an academic.
