To celebrate 10 years since the re-opening of the Union Canal through Wester Hailes, Edinburgh City Libraries have put together an online exhibition documenting the Union Canal and its environs from Fountainbridge to Ratho.
The photographs span the waterway from its city centre basin at Fountainbridge through Wester Hailes and on to the tranquil setting of rural Ratho. The pictures also bridge time, telling the story of how the canal and its surroundings have developed with images dating from the early 1900s to the present day.
For a chance to see an exhibition of these pictures documenting life in and around the canal, visit Wester Hailes Library between 1st and 30th September or Ratho Library from 1st to 31st October.
