In November 1985, the Sentinel published a football special, asking if there were people in the area willing to form a Wester Hailes team. They pointed out that this would be something for young people to do and that a team would be good for the area. The Sentinel promised to back an initiative to get a team started but also pointed out that it would need support from the local community if it was going to be successful. The same edition also featured a lively interview with Wallace Mercer and a report on Stuart Gauld and the problems he faced during 1985. And for those who are not football fans, there’s a story about the Dominoes League on the back page! You can read these stories by clicking here on Sentinel Sport Stories.
